Client: Cleveland School of the Arts

The A Choice of Weapons video documents a schoolwide program at the Cleveland School of the Arts based on Gordon Parks’ book, A Choice of Weapons, which advocates choosing the arts over your fist to resolve conflict.

I conducted a two week artist-in-residency teaching video production and scripting so students could interview fellow students and become invested in the film. Their participation gave me insight into why the A Choice of Weapons school program was successful at reducing violence and creating excellence in the school.

This video sample is part of a longer program. An introduction of student art work opens the video, and the music was composed and performed by CSA students.
